Easter Festivities!

This is the face you get when you tell Cami to pose in front of the Easter Bunny. If you remember, she's terribly afraid of any kind of mascot or person in costume. I took her to the Southtowne Mall for a Munchkin Radio Easter party, and she did not want anything to do with the big white bunny. She did pose dutifully for me though, from afar.

And then she had no choice, when he walked right up to us and they asked if we wanted our picture with him. Sure! I love how Cami is just trying to stay as far away from his big furry hand as possible.

It was a fun free event though...she got a pink bunny balloon animal, prizes from playing little games, and a Mrs. Fields cookie. That made up for her displeasure with the Easter bunny. :)

A couple weeks before Easter, since Jake's parents were leaving on a cruise and then we were leaving for PA for Easter, we had the annual Yospe Easter egg hunt at Wheeler Farm! I love it- it's so fun and so nice of Grandma and Grandpa Yospe to do. We all met at the farm, ate Little Caesar's pizza and treats, and then released the kiddos to search for the eggs hidden all over the big lawn/playground area. Cami was all excited and ready with her Elmo basket.

She took a turn walking Esther and Josh's dog, Mosey, for a minute before the hunt started. We had to put her winter coat on because this day decided to be SO COLD. The wind was blowing like crazy, and I was completely chilled to the bone with a sweater, sweatshirt and coat on. But the kids didn't seem to mind the cold at all!

There were 9 grandkids in on the hunt, and Lexi enjoyed herself from the stroller. After all the eggs were found, we took a walk around the farm to check out the animals. Cami wanted to push Clara in her stroller. Here, they're lookin at the cute bunnies.

I don't know, I may be the only one, but I think it's so fun to open up all the eggs and sort them into categories. Just like at Halloween, I just think it's so fun to see all the different candy and sort it into piles. What a nerd. Cami loves it, though...opening all the eggs and even finding money inside some! She's not a huge chocolate person- she always goes for the fruity candy first. Jellybeans, yes please!

So we actually took an 11 day trip to York, PA to visit my parents over Easter. It was divine! I'll do more posts from the trip later. Right now, I'll stick with the Easter activities that went on in PA, starting with dyeing easter eggs with Grandma Toone!

Talk about a kid in a candy shop! That's a lot of fun colors,eggs, crayons and stickers for one little girl to play with. Mom and I had fun helping her, and we ended up with 18 beautifully bright boiled eggs that we proceeded to eat over the next week.

On Saturday morning on our way down to D.C., we stopped at The Markets of Shrewsbury for a free kid's Easter egg hunt. It was divided into age groups, and the eggs were hidden in the playground with all the playhouses and swing sets for sale.

The rule was that each kid only pick up 3 eggs at first, to make sure everyone got some. 3 isn't very many. But everyone ended up getting more, and Cami wouldn't mind either way!

And finally, Easter Day! We got up and Cami found some fun presents in her Easter basket, including books, stuffed bunny and lamb, and a kite! And then we got ready to go to church on this beautiful morning.

After a lovely time at church and a lunch and nap, we had an Easter egg hunt outside with tons of plastic eggs filled with candy, and the dyed boiled eggs too! Jake hid those ones a little harder for me to find. :)

And Mom made a delicious meal of ham (with the bone in that was given by their neighbor, June, for mowing her lawn. Mom was less than excited to work with the big ol ham, but it turned out great). I requested my favorite- green bean casserole! And potatoes, blueberry jello salad, homemade bread, strawberry shortcake- yum! It's always good to be home. :)

It was So fun being in PA for Easter, and for all the festivities that we enjoyed leading up to it! It was also wonderful to remember the true reason of Easter and think about our Savior and be able to "visit him" in the temple visitor's center the day before. We watched "Finding Faith in Christ" on Easter, and I'm truly so grateful for all he has done for me and for all of us. He lives! What a beautiful thing to celebrate, and a beautiful time of year to celebrate it!
