Cherry Hill...Our summer camping trip

Well if you know me, you know I love to go camping! My family has been doing it for years and years, and we were even members of the "Thousand Trails" Campgrounds which are all around the country. Sometimes we would take a big ol 2 room tent, sometimes we would rent a trailer there, and sometimes we'd even stay in a cute little cabin. They always had swimmin pools, lakes with paddleboats, a rec room with ping pong, shuffleboard, horse shoes....the works. Those were the good ol days. And my favorite part was the food, of course! My favorite dinner was cooked in tin foil, filled with hamburger chunks, cabbage, potatoes, onions, broccoli, carrots, and cream of mushroom soup. Mmmmm. Top it off with salt, pepper and a little ketchup, and you're set!! For dessert the usual smore is always enjoyable, but sometimes if we were feeling frisky, we'd stick a marshmallow on the stick and cover it with biscuit dough, cook it over the fire, and then smear it with butter and cinnamon and sugar. Yum! My other favorite part of camping, besides being with the ones you love and sitting next to the fire and listening to the crackle, is the feeling when you wake up in the morning in a lightly dewed tent with the sun just coming up and the birds chirping. And it's just cool enough that you snuggle into your sleeping bag a little deeper and just enjoy the moment. Although, these memories were a few years ago when I wasn't old and needing to pee in the night and having a sore back in the morning. :) But still, good times!

So ANYways, here's some pics of a trip we took with the Yospe Clan back on July 11. Cherry Hill is a cute little place up by Kaysville, with waterslides and mini golf and a camping area. This tent below, with cute little Lincoln and Calder (my nephews) in it, looks like a perfect little kids tent, huh? Well believe it or not, it was actually a wedding gift that we ordered out of a catalog to be our first tent as a married couple!! We were a little dumbfounded when we set it up and realized it wouldn't even fit one of us laying down. What a let down! Good thing Jake's Dad brought an extra "adult" tent. :)Aren't they just the cutest little tykes? I love Calder in his extra teensy chair. We also played games by lanternlight, as you can see. That was another thing my family always did...played Scrabble or Hand and Foot at the picnic table. Good times. I'm so glad I married into a game loving family, it's lotsa fun.
