Dr. Seuss and Rainbow Day

A few months ago, we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday. We checked some of his books out from the library, giggled at the silly lingo, and decided to make our lunch in his honor. The girls enjoyed green eggs and ham, and drank pink ink like a yink! To make yummy green eggs, just puree some spinach in a blender and mix it into scrambled eggs. Add some milk, cheese, and small pieces of ham, season with salt and pepper, and violah- deeelicious. For pink ink, just puree some fresh or frozen strawberries in a blender and add some milk. Cami thought it was the coolest thing, especially with her snazzy pink crazy straw cup!

We had been reminded of good ol' Dr. Seuss when we went for the girls' well-checkups at the doctor. We were in the Dr. Seuss room- it inspired us!

 On a different day, we focused on RAINBOWS. Such a fun topic! The girls ate a rainbow lunch...which is a good rule of thumb to follow anyways. Mac and cheese, mandarin oranges, cucumber, avocado, blueberries, strawberries...the possibilities are endless, and delicious!

After lunch, we went outside and played with Rainbow Rice! We had gotten a bag of nicely dyed and sorted rainbow rice in our busy bag swap, so this was the perfect time to break it out. We took it outside in a bowl with a cupcake tin, measuring cups and utensils, and the girls went to town. Unfortunately, most of the rice ended up in the grass and lost forever, but that's ok. :)

 The next day, we continued with our rainbow theme and went to "school" in our basement. Cami has a little picnic table desk that she sits at to work on her workbook. She loves this thing! It helps her learn letters, numbers, counting, sorting, etc.

 And we did a rainbow scavenger hunt. Haha I love that the girls are matching in their colorful rainbow outfits too. They had fun collecting things around the room and playroom to add to our colored paper.

There's so many things you can do with rainbows. I got this cute idea from my sister in law Kate here on her website, and used it a couple years ago when Cami was just 2! She and cousin Ari had fun coloring in a pre-drawn rainbow, and then placing the matching color of skittle on the picture.

There's something therapeutic about coloring a simple rainbow. Try it, it's good for the soul. :)

And speaking of school...this 4 year old is SO excited to start preschool in the fall at the local high school! They have trained students who act as the teachers and get paired one on one with the students. We went to an open house at the preschool, and Cami was in heaven. They had fun climbing to the top of the playhouse.

 And even though it doesn't have swings, much to Cami's dismay, she's so excited to go there and feels like such a grown up girl. Yay for school!

 I still love being her teacher though, and hope she always loves "Mom School" the best.
