First Grade Awesomeness with Mr. Yospe

Cami had such an amazing 1st grade school year. She loved her teacher (of course...coolest uncle around), and made some really good friends, and had all kinds of fun experiences. She was chosen for Principal's Pride in February, and we got to go see her receive recognition.

Once again, I volunteered as an artist for the Great Artists Program, where a parent teaches an art project each month to a class. It was fun doing it for Cami's class for the 2nd year! This was one of their projects, using charcoal.

And another mosaic type one with pastels and watercolor. I love how unique they turn out!

It was actually a funny, sad thing. We were supposed to go to the zoo that day, but when all of us parents were there, ready to take the kids on the bus, we found out there were no busses. For the whole 1st grade field trip! The paperwork had gotten overlooked. Sooo here were all these devastated kids and sorry parents. But after some quick scrambling, the teachers put together a fun field trip of walking down the street (a long long way) to Macey's grocery store for a tour and treats, and then walking to a park for lunch. The kids thought it was so fun- they loved it. 
And of course, Cami was the luckiest kid in her class, because she got to see her teacher every other Sunday at family dinners!

Cami participated in the Junior Choir at school, beginning with practices in January, and ending with a performance in April. They sang songs from The Wizard of Oz, and it was SO cute! She got to dress up as a munchkin in bright colors.

Each kid got to be Star of the Week, so when Cami's came along, we made her poster with all things about her.

And she got to share it with the class, and I love how Abe used a microphone. The kids loved talking into a microphone. I was very impressed last year how Cami's confidence and self assurance greatly increased! She became more outgoing, brave, willing to speak in front of people or to strangers, and I really attribute it to Mr. Yospe's class. His humor and fun way of teaching made the kids break out of their shells and laugh and be confident. I loved what it did for her!

We got to eat lunch with her during her week of being a star, which was lots of fun. Love our little 1st grade star!
