Yay hooray- a day in Mexico! Jake and I went to Cancun on our Honeymoon, but hadn't been back to Mexico since then. The girls were thrilled to be in another country and see all the vibrant colors and the fun town life. When we got off the ship that morning, I was feeling great (of course, since we weren't rocking in the open sea), and it was a gorgeous sunny day!
We didn't have a plan yet, but we figured we'd walk around downtown first and shop around for a bit. Jake bought a bunch of boxes of Chicle from some little Mexican kids with puppy dog eyes, and Cami was looking hard for a Mexican souvenir. We found this chili pepper in a square where busses and tours departed from.
Lexi Lou picked up this purse and said, "Look Mom! I found a bra purse for you!" hahaha.

She did indeed find a treasure...a Mexican doll! The doll was priced at $10, but we asked if they would go lower, and she ended up getting it for $6! Cami used her own hard earned money, and she was so proud of herself. She kept saying, "I can't believe I bought this with my very own 6 dollars!"
We went back to that bus depot, and signed up to take a tour to La Bufadora, one of the largest marine geysers in the world. We just knew it was a blowhole and it sounded cool. So we met our tour guide, Chino- an awesome Mexican Philipino guy, and boarded our bus.
It was a lovely scenic drive through Ensenada and about 20 miles south. I loved the green hills on one side, and fields and ocean on the other. At one point in our trip, our bus suddenly got a flat tire, so we thumped along for quite awhile until we got to a convenience store. Then we boarded a different bus, and finished the drive.
We made it! First you walk through a Flea Market to get to the blowhole. It was all the same stuff we'd already seen downtown, so we weren't interested in buying anything. Those vendors sure are persistent, though! They also give out lots of samples of margaritas and churros.
We made a stop with our group at Habana Banana, a bar/restaurant that had free tequila tasting. No thanks! It also had a leopard people could pay to pet, a slide next to the staircase, and swings at the bar.

We made it to the end of the flea market and got an awesome view of the ocean! They told us to keep an eye out for migrating whales, although we didn't see any.
Then we headed down to the blowhole lookout point.
There it is!
The geyser is caused by the breaking of waves against a cave that is at the bottom of the cliff, reaching a height of up to 65 feet!

If you stand close, you get pretty wet! It was awesome. We loved watching the waves build and burst against the wall, blow up, and recede again.

Behind us, this hill and wall looked enticing. We explored a little.
And we found this house with this snack stand up on the hill. Don't ask me how long the food has been sitting there every day, but it was a nice old leather-skinned lady, and Jake bought some coconut from her.

The vendors tried to get us again on the way back.
They dressed Cami and Lexi up just so we could see how cute they looked in Mexican gear. Jake almost bought them woven striped hoodie things, but I thought, when would they ever wear them? He regretted it later, though, and wished he would've bought them. We did see people on the cruise ship every now and then wearing them, and they would've looked really cute. Maybe next time! I love this picture though.
We were pretty tired on the ride home! Lexi fell asleep.
And this was my last lovely sight of Mexico before boarding the ship again. Palm tree! Ahhh.
Even though we didn't buy the hoodies, we did buy these adorable Mexican dresses when we were shopping downtown! They wanted the exact same one. They wore them to dinner that night, and got so many compliments from people!
We attended a magic show in the big entertainment room, and Luke got chosen as a volunteer.
The magic was kind of boring though.

That night at dinner, I think I actually made it through the whole thing without feeling horrible. The appetizer of the night was frog legs, so of course Jake got some to share with the girls.
Cami liked them! She said they tasted like chicken. :) Doesn't everything?
Lexi is so funny- she's such a big eater! She ordered Prime Rib steak for dinner and loved every bite of it. After dinner, we found this cute towel guy (dinosaur I think?) waiting for us in our room.
What a great day!

Those little blonde Mexican girls are so precious! Every single adorable picture! And what fun experiences and memories for them! Glad you got so many pictures to keep it fresh in their memories. That was a cool wave geyser, blowhole, whatever! Love Cami's little doll, and Lexi's gigantic appetite! That pizza and fries in another post made e chuckle!
