We stayed at an amazing resort, the Grand Oasis! It was all-inclusive, and contained about 20 restaurants, river-like swimming pools and swim-up bars (we enjoyed the non-alcoholic beverages of course, such as strawberry daquiri's and pina coladas. mmm) and it was right on the beach for those days when we felt like getting sandy and salty, which were only 2. As you can see, the maids made a lovely array of mating geese, or swans if you will, on our bed. Unfortunately, the fresh flower petals brought in an infestation of tiny almost invisible bugs that we later found on the bed, table, walls, etc. We made peace and learned to ignore them.
This is the amazing view from the balcony! Pretty much paradise. And this picture makes it look like we were the only ones there! I love palm trees.
This was at a fun amusement park, Ex Caret, where we enjoyed nature's beauty and also met some dashing young lads in paint and loin cloths. They were part of a show that we watched about Mexico's culture, but they took their parts a liiiiittle too seriously.
And here I am basking in the sunlight and grandness of the Oasis. That's the day we decided to hop on the city bus and let it take us downtown to the REAL flea markets. Downtown wasn't scary like we thought...everyone was friendly and we even found a Mexican Walmart! (what a rip-off) The flea markets turned out to be the same as all the others....cheaply made, slightly gaudy and tacky things for outrageous prices, and men trying to entice us by saying, "Come into my store, let me rip you off!" (for real, one guy did say that)
